About Aletheia
Accessibility you do not have to wait for.
Aletheia is built by Lonia AI for a simple reason: the standards that should make digital content accessible have existed for decades, and most of the web still does not meet them. Aletheia gives the user the tools to fix that content themselves, now, on their own device.
Mission
Put access in the hands of the person who needs it.
Most accessibility tools are aimed at the institution: scanners that tell an organization what is broken, or overlays that promise to patch a site automatically. Those approaches depend on the publisher acting, and the publisher often does not.
Aletheia is aimed at the user. It does not wait for a website owner to add alt text or tag a PDF. It rebuilds the content for the person reading it, with that person in control of what is processed and what is kept. That is not a workaround. It is agency.
Why Aletheia exists
Decades of standards. Most of the web still fails.
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed in 1990. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and Section 508 have guided digital accessibility for over two decades. The expectations are clear and long-standing.
The web has not caught up. WebAIM's 2026 analysis of the top one million home pages detected WCAG 2 failures on 95.9 percent of them. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that more than one in four U.S. adults live with a disability. That is a large population running into barriers every day, with no control over when, or whether, those barriers get fixed.
Aletheia exists for the long stretch between when access is owed and when it is delivered, and for the cases where it never is.
The name
Aletheia means unconcealment.
Aletheia is the Greek concept of unconcealment, of revealing what has been hidden. An image without alt text is not absent for a sighted user; it is concealed from a blind one. A scanned PDF is not unreadable to anyone with eyes; it is concealed from anyone using a screen reader. Aletheia removes the concealment and returns the content to the people it was always meant for.
The commitment
Three pillars, in every tier including Free.
Accessibility
WCAG 2.2 AA and Section 508 across every screen, operable by keyboard and screen reader. The tool that removes barriers cannot be a barrier itself.
Compliance
Privacy and disclosure handled by design. On-device processing keeps medical and student documents on the device. Data minimization is the default, not an upgrade.
Security
OAuth sign-in only, no stored passwords, HTTPS throughout, and no central document store. These protections apply to every tier, including the Free tier.
Part of Lonia AI
One tool in a focused portfolio.
Lonia AI was founded in 2024 to build software for people that mainstream tools treat as edge cases. Aletheia is the tool aimed directly at the user rather than the institution.
Lonia AI is a small, independent team. You can learn more about the rest of the portfolio at lonia.ai.
What Aletheia is not
Not a replacement for the work institutions still owe.
Aletheia does not relieve organizations of their obligations. If you run a website, fix it. If you publish documents, tag them. If you build forms, label them. The right answer is to make the original content accessible, not to push the cost of fixing it onto the people who were already harmed by it. Aletheia covers the gap; it does not excuse it.
